Meal Pattern and Micro Nutrient Adequacy of Food Consumed by Secondary School Female Adolescents in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

Adolescents have high nutritional needs but usually engage in unhealthy eating which has resulted into an irregular meal consumption pattern especially skipping of breakfast a significant impact on their health adulthood. This study assessed and micro-nutrient adequacy food consumed by secondary school female adolescents Ibadan. A cross-sectional descriptive design was conducted among selected schools two Local Government Areas Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. total 384 respondents were used, using proportionate random sampling technique, semi-structured questionnaire used to collect socio demographic data, 24-hours dietary recall frequency information intake from respondents. Data analyzed statistics analyze the factors, Total Dietary Assessment Chi-square determine association between micronutrient adequacy, with level significance set at (p < 0.05). More than half 57.8% ages 13-15 years, 62.5% them ate thrice day while 60.2% skip meals lunch mostly skipped. The result revealed that Calcium (mg) 26.02% is most deficient all Vitamin B6, Zn Fe met RDA intake. Therefore, should consume calcium supplement foods rich more, government also create more programs enlighten benefits healthy.
